Obama Poll Dip; GOP Race Unfocused

If the President is in trouble with voters the Grand Old Party has a much worse potential problem. A new Washington Post/ABC News poll indicates the president’s approval rating is at a near low. Renewed concerns about the economy and rising gasoline prices have not helped. But voters are not especially optimistic that rival candidates would be much better. A huge number of Republicans are not happy with their potential choices – 22 points lower than at this point four years ago. Nearly has many leaning Republicans are dissatisfied with the field (40 percent) as are satisfied and 17 percent have no opinion of the entire field of prospects.

Obama is wooing big donors in the Bay Area and Los Angeles over the next two days to include six fundraisers and two town halls which should bring in about $4 million. But there’s certain coolness among some in the show business community this time around. Matt Damon, wild about Obama in 2008, says in interviews that the president has misinterpreted his mandate with centrist policies too favorable to Wall Street. He gets higher marks among high-tech luminaries in the Silicon Valley.

In his 2009 book, “Think Like a Champion,” The Donald praised Obama’s “amazing and “phenomena” accomplishments. “Barack Obama proved that discrimination combined with opportunity and intelligence can make things happen in an exceptional way.” Now he preaches birther absurdities and calls Obama the worst president in American history. Which is it?
