Palin says Rogue, left says Rouge

November 17 is turning out to be a very big day in political publishing.

First, there’s Sarah Palin’s own ghost-assisted autobiography,” Going Rogue: An American Life,” which hits the shelves as she guests on Oprah Winfrey’s show, part of a huge promotional bonanza to include a careful TV and Web roll out. Here’s the big question: how tough will Oprah really be in drilling down to coax Sarah into revealing her inner self?

Not to be outdone the progressive magazine, The Nation, will offer a liberal judgment of Palin’s legacy in “Going Rouge: An American Nightmare,” which is the brainchild of two editors, Richard Kim and Betsy Reed. Kim told Politico that while it takes some shots at Palin it is not intended as a joke or parody, but a very serious book with 23 contributors, including Naomi Klein and Jim Hightower.

Who’s dithering?

Ex-vice president Dick Cheney blames Obama for “dithering” over its strategy for the war in Afghanistan. Robert Gibbs, for the president, returned fire. “I think it’s pretty safe to say that the vice president for seven years was not focused on Afghanistan. Even more curious given the fact that an increase of troops sat on desks in this White House, including the vice president’s, for more than eight months.”

Quotable

“Judges are going absolutely crazy.” Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, blaming judges, especially on the federal level, for preventing California from solving its budget woes – notably judicial actions that have struck down some state worker furloughs and required reductions in the prison population.
