Waiting for Biden
22 August 2008 |permalink | email article
No text message tonight from the Obama campaign about the name of the Democratic presidential nominee’s choice for vice president. It will be texted to supporters very early Saturday morning.
The choice almost certainly is Joe Biden based on activity at his home on Friday night. The expectation is he will fly to Illinois overnight to be formally introduced by Obama at a 12 pm (CT) rally in Springfield, where the nominee announced his candidacy in February 2007.
The Associated Press reported at 7:56 PM (PT) that associates of Obama and Biden say they believe Biden will be chosen, though they caution that they have not been told directly.
Both Evan Bayh and Tim Kaine were told late Friday by Obama they will not be on the ticket.
Press pool shouted to Obama in Chicago tonight: “How does Obama-Biden sound.” Obama gave a half smirk.
Update: CNN reports that Secret Service agents have been dispatched to Wilmington, Delaware where Biden lives.
